Plagiarism:
The journal has a strict policy against plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using professional plagiarism-checking software. Submitted manuscripts with an unacceptable similarity index resulting from plagiarism are rejected immediately.

Copyright policy:

In consideration of the Publication of their scientific work (study, review, article, etc.) in The Egyptian Journal of Forensic Sciences and Applied Toxicology [EJFSAT], the authors agree to transfer, assign, and otherwise convey copyright ownership worldwide, in all languages, and all forms of media now or hereafter known, including forms of electronic media, to EJFSAT. If EJFSAT should decide not to publish an author’s submission to the article/scientific work. In that case, EJFSAT shall give prompt notice of its decision to the corresponding author, this agreement shall terminate, and neither the author nor The EJFSAT shall be under any further liability or obligation. The authors grant The EJFSAT the rights to use their names and biographical data (including professional affiliation) in work and the Publication’s promotion.

EJFSAT's article processing charge

  • There are no fees for publishing in the journal.

Cover letter
A cover letter that includes the following information, should be provided:

  • An explanation of why your manuscript should be published in The Egyptian Journal of Forensic Sciences and Applied Toxicology.
  • Confirmation that the content of the manuscript is authors’ original work.
  • Confirmation that the content of the manuscript has not previously been published elsewhere, or even submitted in another journal.
  • A declaration of any potential competing interests
  • Confirmation that all authors have approved the manuscript for submission

Formatting requirements

  • The total number of pages of the submitted manuscript should not exceed 15 pages.
  • Put the manuscript in a file with a header (author, author & author, or author et al.) and a footer on the left (Egypt J. Forensic Sci. Appli. Toxicol.) and a footer on the right showing the volume and issue number e.g., Vol 18 (2), June 2018.

Required fonts:

  • Title atahoma - 14 - uppercase (capital letters) - center text.
  • Authors (1st line) and their institutional affiliation are required (2nd line) - times new roman - 11 - center text.
  • Subtitles (introduction, subjects, and methods, results, etc.) à times new roman - 11 - upper case (capital letters).
  • The core of the manuscript, starting from the introduction, should be in a 2 columns structure - times new roman - simple (not bold) - 11 - sentence case – line space 1.
  • Do not use non-scientific abbreviations (only valid and standard abbreviations are allowed).

Article structure: (Should be in the following order)

Title

  • Should give the key result of the study.
  • Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.

Authors' names and affiliations (Should be also provided as a separate file named Title Page and removed from the blinded manuscript)

  • Clearly, indicate given name(s) and family name(s) of each author and check for accurate spelling (should be consistent with the online-submitted ordering).
  • Present the authors' affiliation addresses below the names.
  • Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address.
  • Details of corresponding author should be written after the authors' names and affiliations and before the abstract.
  • Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. 
  • Ensure that the e-mail address and phone number are given and that contact details are kept up to date.

The TEXT should be arranged under the following headings

Abstract

  • Should be concise and informative.
  • Should state briefly the purpose of the research, methodology, principal results, and major conclusions under the following subheadings: Background, objectives, methodology, results, and conclusion without line breaks.
  • Must be able to stand alone since it is often presented separately from the article.
  • Avoid references, and uncommon abbreviations.
  • Not more than 400 words - one column - center text - justified.

Keywords 

  • Immediately after the abstract.
  • A maximum of 6 keywords.
  • Avoid general and plural terms and multiple concepts (for example 'and' 'of').
  • Only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be used.
  • They will be used for indexing purposes.

Introduction

  • State the work objectives.
  • Provide adequate background, avoiding detailed literature, survey or a summary of the results.

Material and methods

  • Manuscripts reporting studies involving human participants, human data or human tissue must:
  • declare being conducted according to the declaration of the Helsinki
  • include a statement on ethics approval and consent
  • include the name of the ethics committee that approved the study and the committee’s reference number if appropriate
  • Studies involving animals must include a statement on ethics approval
  • Study design should be mentioned. You can be guided by these links:
  • Full experimental or sampling design, number of participants., protocol for data collection, used equipment, methods used and data analysis should be mentioned.

Results

  • Clear and concise
  • In the text, the word “figure” is abbreviated to “fig.”, while “table” is not.
  • Both words are spelled out completely in descriptive legends.
  • Tables and figures must be sufficiently clear, well-labeled, and fully described by their legends.
  • Tables should be free of lines.
  • Table legends above the body of the table.
  • Any table must be on the same page with its legend, not passing between two pages.
  • Figure legends below the figure.
  • Figures must have at least 600 dpi (better 1200 dpi) when producing line drawings, photographs a minimum of 300 dpi at publishing size.
  • Any figure must be on the same page with its legend, not passing between two pages.
  • Tables and figures should be submitted as separate files and to be added to the final version of manuscript after acceptance.

Discussion 

  • Should explore the significance of the results, not repeat them.
  • A combined "Results and Discussion" section is often appropriate.
  • Avoid extensive citations and discussion of published literature.

Conclusion(s) 

  • Presented in a short section, which can stand alone.

Recommendation(s)

  • Presented in the form of points, in a separate section.

Conflict of interest

  • All financial and non-financial competing interests must be declared in this section.
  • If you do not have any competing interests, please state "The authors declare that they have no competing interests" in this section.

Funding

  • All sources of funding for the research reported should be declared. The role of the funding agency in the design of the study and collection, analysis, and interpretation of data and in writing the manuscript should be declared.

Acknowledgment (if any)

  • Add to the title page and remove from the blinded manuscript, to be added to the final version of manuscript after acceptance.
  • List individuals who provided help during the research (language help, writing assistance or proofreading the article, etc.).
  • Authors should obtain permission to acknowledge from all those mentioned in the acknowledgements section.

Reference model

  • Harvard system should be used.
  • References should be arranged in alphabetical order.
  • Standard journal article:

-  Name of author (Bold) (alphabetical order) – the year of publication between brackets (Bold) – title – the name of the journal – volume – pages.

- [Al-Motarreb, A.; Baker, K., and Broadley, K. (2002): pharmacological and medical aspects and its social use in Yemen. Phytotherapy Research, 16:403-413.]

-  For 7 or more authors, list only the first 6 and add (et al.) for the rest.

  • Chapter in a book:

-  Name of the author/editor (bold) (alphabetical order) - the year of publication between brackets (Bold)– the title of the book – the number of the edition – Place of publication: Publisher – pages.

-  Rasheed, Z and Haqqi, T (2001): Cytokine networks “towards new therapeutic targets for rheumatoid arthritis. 4th edition, London; 31-47.

Arabic summary

Arabic summary including manuscript title, authors’ names, affiliations, and abstract, in Arabic language, should be provided at the end of the manuscript.
